DESCRIPTION
Students who want to pursue higher accounting courses can apply for the Auditor General South Africa (AGSA) bursary. All individuals who fit the criteria outlined by the AGSA office are welcome to apply for assistance for their academic pursuits for the 2023 academic year.
No application will be denied due to race or creed because the bursary is available to people of all races and skin tones. Candidates must demonstrate both academic success and their inability to pay for their courses.
ABOUT THE BURSARY
The highest auditing office in the nation is still the Office of the Auditor General of South Africa (AGSA). It was established in 1911 to examine strategic government objectives, programs, and initiatives and to address concerns that were found during our auditing work.
In accordance with Section 181(5) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, AGSA is answerable to the National Assembly. The primary goal of AGSA is to reduce auditing expenses, manage overheads, enhance debt collection, and reinvest in industries that are growing, including performance auditing.

Bursary Eligibility
- Students who have been accepted to a university to pursue Chartered Accountancy subjects of study are eligible to apply for the AGSA bursary. These include the BCompt, Bachelor of Accounting, and CA streams in the Bachelor of Commerce. A university that has been accredited by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants is required for study.
- This scholarship is only available to citizens of South Africa.
- As per the bursary contract you entered into during your studies, you can be compelled to serve articles at the AGSA office after you graduate.

Matric Applicants:
- Must obtain matric exemption and university acceptance
- Must obtain at least 60% for English
- Must obtain at least 60% for Mathematics (not Maths literacy)
Requirements for University students:
- 1st year students:
- Obtain over 60% for Financial Accounting
- 2nd year students:
- Obtain over 60% for Financial Accounting
- Obtain over 60% for Managerial Accounting
- 3rd and final year students:
- Obtain over 60% for Financial Accounting
- Obtain over 60% for Managerial Accounting
- Obtain over 60% for Taxation
- Obtain over 60% for Auditing
- Must obtain over 60% pass in all subjects.
